On April 13, 2026, the sixth China International Consumer Goods Expo (hereinafter referred to as the Consumer Expo), co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Hainan Province, was grandly inaugurated at the Oriental Global Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center.
The sixth China International Consumer Goods Expo will be held from April 13 to 18, 2026, under the theme “Openness Leads Global Consumption, Innovation Fuels a Better Life.” The total exhibition area has been expanded to 143,000 square meters, attracting more than 3,400 brands from over 60 countries and regions. Canada is the Guest Country of Honor for this edition and will set up a 400-square-meter national pavilion, bringing together nearly 40 Canadian companies for a collective showcase. Shanghai is the Guest Province/City of Honor. Compared with previous editions, several key metrics have seen significant improvements: the share of international exhibits has reached 65%, an increase of 20 percentage points over the last event; more than 200 global new products are expected to be unveiled during the expo, doubling the number from the previous edition, thereby firmly establishing the event as the “launchpad” and “must-visit destination” for cutting-edge global lifestyle trends; and approximately 65,000 professional buyers from both domestic and international markets have been invited, representing a 10% year-on-year increase. In addition, this edition introduces innovative features such as a Buyer Service Center and an “Incubation Zone” for travel retail brands, further enhancing service capabilities and delivering a superior experience for exhibitors, buyers, and networking opportunities worldwide.
This edition of the China International Consumer Goods Expo marks both the inaugural major exhibition of China’s “15th Five-Year Plan” period and the first showcase since the full-island closed-loop operation of the Hainan Free Trade Port was launched. The Expo has emerged as a leading indicator of consumption-upgrade trends, a strategic bridgehead for high-standard opening-up, and an accelerator for the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port. As a national-level platform that brings together premium consumer goods from around the world, this year’s event places a strong emphasis on emerging forms of consumption—such as green, healthy, digital, and smart products—and is meticulously designed as a premier launchpad for global consumer innovations. It serves as both a testing ground for cultivating new drivers of consumption growth and a critical node for smoothing the dual circulation of domestic and international markets. Grounded in the new starting point of Hainan’s fully operational free trade port with its island-wide closed-loop system, the Expo leverages its role as the core platform to further deepen high-standard opening-up. By capitalizing on the Free Trade Port’s policy advantages—including “five freedoms and facilitations, plus one safety and order”—the event facilitates the deep integration of high-quality global resources with China’s vast domestic market, thereby injecting sustained and robust momentum into the global community’s shared access to China’s development opportunities and the joint building of an open world economy.
